What is Title I?
Title I is a federally funded program that provides financial assistance to schools like Sayéik: Gastineau Community School to ensure that all children have access to a high-quality education and are prepared to meet challenging academic standards.
What Does This Mean for Your Child?
At Sayéik: Gastineau Community School, being a Title I school means we are committed to ensuring that every student, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to succeed. Your child will have access to additional support and resources that are designed to help them reach their full potential.
How Does Title I Benefit Sayéik: Gastineau Community School Students and Families?
Additional Teacher - Title I funds pay for one certified teaching position at SGCS each year. The Title I teacher oversees the school reading program and literacy paraprofessionals, participates in school leadership, and provides direct reading intervention to students reading below grade level.
Family Engagement - Title I funds support family engagement events and activities at SGCS. Family literacy nights, math and literacy kits are just a few examples of learning opportunities funded through SGCS’s Title 1 program.
